Proyecto Helicoid

HELICOID

The HELICoiD project’s main goal is to apply hyperspectral imaging techniques for precise localisation of malignant tumours during brain tumour surgical procedures. Specifically, an experimental design based on non-invasive hyperspectral cameras has been developed, connected to a platform running a set of algorithms able to discriminate between healthy or pathological tissues. The change in cellular physiology that leads to cancer development is detected as a change in the hyperspectral signature of the tissue. 

The prototype developed aims to recognise cancerous tissues during the surgical procedure. The surgeon has different display devices that superimpose real images with the tissue classification maps that the prototype has made.

The ENJAMBRE project aims to put into operation a cooperative flight system enabling manned and unmanned aircraft to operate safely in the same airspace in both onshore and offshore emergency mission critical environments. 

The ENJAMBRE project focuses on three National Security strategy priorities: the organisation of migratory flows, protection against emergencies and disasters, and maritime security, where the private sector can provide the public sector with key support.

FANDANGO

The FANDANGO project targets operational efficiency in the automotive components sector, working on three major industry challenges: information visibility throughout the supply chain; maximising final product quality; and optimising processes that do not provide direct value (e.g. maintenance). 

One of the main challenges this sector poses is how to design in-line assurance systems, because the technological solutions existing on the market fail to meet their specific needs: high-speed manufacturing processes, a variety of references, diversity in the defectology presented and the specific nature of production line conditions (heat, lighting, dirt, lubricants being present, etc.).

Proyecto Escaphib

ESCAPHIB

The ESCAPHIB project works on the research, validation and verification of four new developments, which are part of the aircraft electrical technology deployed in the E-Fan X hybrid aircraft demonstrator that AIRBUS has developed. 

The project focuses on: the high efficiency cooling system; the intake and exhaust of a powerful generation system; the protection and gas evacuation system for high capacity batteries; and the development of new boundary layer configurations for tail cones. The goal is to investigate how these blocks can be technologically enhanced, performing validations on the developments and verifying the new systems when grounded and, for some of them, in flight.

INTEFIX

The INTEFIX project aims to boost machining processes in the industry by optimising intelligent tooling systems, enabling monitoring, control and adaptation of processes to get more accurate, cheaper and higher quality results, which generates a more competitive industry. 

These new tooling systems modify the behaviour of the actuators, supports and fixtures based on data that different, state-of-the-art sensors record. Various control algorithms and simulation tools are applied to modify their behaviour and interactions with the other machining processes.

The SMART-EASY project has the goal of developing a new generation of sensor-based machine tools with artificial vision technology to generate digital operating environments that simplify and speed up manufacturing and predictive maintenance processes to ensure optimised manufacturing in terms of efficiency, quality, reliability and productivity. 

Based on the data extracted from the sensors connected to each machine and using automatic learning and knowledge management techniques, a digital twin is developed for each machine that can analyse the results.
